Biography

I live in Los Gatos, CA with my wife, Theresa. We have four grown children and eight grandchildren.

I grew up in Columbus, Ohio and am a graduate of Dallas Theological Seminary.

I serve as Senior Pastor of Venture Christian Church in Los Gatos, CA and president of Living on the Edge, an international teaching and discipleship ministry which reaches over a million listeners a week and continues to grow across the nation and around the world.

I have been a pastor for over 25 years and have a passion to see churches and ministries mobilized to work in concert with one another—in order that entire communities might be reached for Christ—both nationally and internationally.

My vision is to partner with the local church to be a worldwide catalyst for discipleship.

By the grace of God, I have authored multiple books, my latest being Good to Great in God’s Eyes: Ten Practices Great Christians Have in Common.

And lastly, my greatest passion is to fulfill the mandate God has stamped on my life:

I want to be a catalyst that transforms
How people think about God,
How pastors think about preaching,
How churches think about their communities, and
How every day believers live out their faith at home, school, and work each day.

Interests

One of my favorite pasttimes is grabbing coffee with my wife and talking together. I also love to play basketball, and golf with my sons and friends. I played college basketball and baseball growing up and I still enjoy getting a great workout as often as I can.
